Learning to Love by Elizabeth T. Marshall

I have a particularly special story to share with you today! Learning to Love follows a girl in the foster care system as she discovers the love of a family and more. I had the privilege of both beta reading and designing a cover for this unique short story.

Blurb:

When foster girl Kay Villa is sent to stay with the Melzer family for Christmas, she doesn’t expect to learn to love and forgive. Journey through the emotions of Kay as she grows to love God and forgive the person who caused her the most pain.

My Review:

I loved this story. Though it was short, each page was replete with emotions and important lessons about God’s love and forgiveness. Kay was a good main character, with relatable thoughts and feelings. I also appreciated her foster family–and their unique names. If you want a fluffy and superficial Christmas story, this isn’t the book for you, but if you want a story that delves deep into its protagonist’s character growth, I couldn’t recommend anything else more.

I received a copy of this book to beta read. I was not required to write a positive review.

Though this story is set at Christmas, it can be enjoyed anytime. I would highly recommend reading it–though short, the theme is meaningful and the characters well-developed. It releases today, so be sure to check it out on Amazon or at least add it on Goodreads.
